Figwright
A free, two-way Figma MCP server, paired with a Figma plugin over a local WebSocket relay, that turns a Figma selection into framework-aware code and lets an agent write frames, styles and components back onto the canvas.
Figwright connects an MCP server to a Figma plugin over a local WebSocket relay so an AI agent such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex can work with a Figma file instead of only reading it. Reading turns a Figma selection into framework-aware code, grounded in de-duplicated design context covering layout, typography, variables and components; writing lets an agent author and edit the canvas directly, from frames and text to auto-layout, styles, variables, components and whole screens, across 115 tools total.
Unlike Figma's official Dev Mode MCP server, which requires a paid Dev Mode seat, Figwright runs on Figma's free tier. It detects a project's real framework and styling system and reuses its existing components, tokens and icons instead of emitting generic markup to rewrite, and lets several agents work at once by having each claim its own open Figma file so switching tabs does not send one agent's edits into another's design.
Everything, the MCP server, the relay and the plugin, runs on the user's own machine, and designs are never sent elsewhere. It requires Node.js 20.19+ or 22.12+, and its read and write workflows ship as installable skills that can be adopted or forked.
