firstmate

An agent distro that lets a single coding-agent session supervise a crew of other agents, each working in its own git worktree, and report back finished pull requests, approved merges, or investigation reports.

firstmate

firstmate is an agent distro: a portable directory of instructions, skills, and scripts that turns a general-purpose coding agent into a supervisor for a crew of other agents. Instead of juggling several agent sessions yourself, you talk to one first mate, which spawns autonomous crewmates in their own clean git worktrees and supervises them to completion.

Each crewmate runs visibly in its own tmux, Herdr, Zellij, cmux, or Orca tab that you can watch or type into. Tasks are either ship tasks, which deliver authorized changes as pull requests or local merges, or scout tasks, which leave standalone investigation reports. Projects declare a mode of no-mistakes, direct-PR, or local-only, and larger setups can add persistent secondmates running on other machines over SSH.
