Flux
An open, execution-agnostic Kanban task-management engine shared by humans and AI agents, storing tasks in one git-synced JSON file and exposing them through a CLI, a web dashboard, a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server.
Flux is a multi-project Kanban board meant to be used the same way by a person, a script, a CI pipeline or an AI agent: it tracks the work, such as epics, tasks, priorities and dependencies, without prescribing how that work gets done. Task data lives in a single JSON file inside the user's repository and syncs through a dedicated git branch, so the board travels with the repository and works offline.
A full MCP server with more than 25 tools lets an AI assistant list, create, update and close tasks, covering projects, epics, comments, webhooks and file attachments, with task comments acting as agent memory that persists context across sessions. Other features include drag-and-drop status changes with visually flagged blocked tasks that are excluded from a command that lists ready work, a priority system for ordering both agent and human work, signed and retried webhook deliveries for integrations such as Slack, GitHub or CI/CD, and real-time board updates over server-sent events with optional browser notifications.
It is written in TypeScript, has a zero-dependency CLI, and needs no separate database to run.
