Fontsource

A monorepo that bundles self-hostable open-source fonts, mostly mirrored from Google Fonts, into individual, version-locked NPM packages.

Fontsource

Fontsource is an updating monorepo of self-hostable open-source fonts bundled into individual NPM packages. Self-hosting a font can improve website performance by removing the extra DNS and TCP connections a CDN such as Google Fonts requires, lets fonts load offline for progressive web apps, and avoids Google's tracking of font usage.

Packaged fonts stay version-locked like any other NPM dependency, so they do not change unexpectedly the way Google can update its hosted fonts without notice. Most fonts in the collection use the SIL Open Font License, some use the Apache 2.0 license, and the Ubuntu fonts use the Ubuntu Font License, with each package's specific license documented in its own README. Fonts outside the Google Fonts ecosystem can be added through a generic packager that builds the needed CSS files.
