GitHub Copilot for Xcode

GitHub's AI coding assistant for Xcode, adding chat, inline completions, code review, and an agent mode that can edit files and run terminal commands.

GitHub Copilot for Xcode

GitHub Copilot for Xcode adds intelligent code completion suggested either from what a developer starts typing or from a natural-language comment, a chat interface for coding questions, and code review, alongside agent mode, next-edit suggestions, an MCP registry, and Copilot Vision. In agent mode, the assistant can apply code edits directly to files, run terminal commands and show their output inside the editor, search the codebase for relevant files and snippets, create new files and directories, and call configured MCP tools, working with awareness across multiple files and folders in the project.

The project is preparing an upcoming usage-based billing model and recommends staying on the latest plugin release to get the corresponding usage panel and model picker updates ahead of that rollout.

It requires macOS 13 and Xcode 14 or newer plus a GitHub account, installs through Homebrew or a downloaded disk image, is written in Swift, and is distributed under the MIT license.
