IBM watsonx Code Assistant

An IDE-integrated coding assistant, built on IBM's Granite model, that offers chat-based code suggestions, single- and multi-line code completion, and commands to explain or document existing code across languages including Go, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python and TypeScript.

IBM watsonx Code Assistant

IBM watsonx Code Assistant integrates into an IDE to help with everyday coding tasks. A chat panel accepts natural-language prompts and can reference a specific file, class, function or method by typing @, which sends that code's content as context for a more targeted answer.

It also completes code inline as a developer types, offering single- or multi-line suggestions, and can generate a suggestion from a plain-language comment. An /explain command analyzes a code block and produces a written explanation of what it does, and a /document command generates comment lines documenting a block of code.

It supports Go, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, TypeScript and other languages. Licensing terms for the assistant are provided separately in the repository's product-licenses folder; the repository itself is mainly used to file issues against the product.
