idea-reality-mcp

idea-reality-mcp is an MCP server that scans GitHub, npm, PyPI, Hacker News and Stack Overflow to check whether a proposed project idea already exists. Given a plain-English description, it searches the five sources in parallel and returns a 0-100 reality score with supporting evidence, a trend direction, the closest competing projects, and pivot suggestions, so an AI coding agent can help decide whether to build, change direction, or drop the idea before writing any code.

It is installed as an MCP server and added to an agent such as Claude Code with a single command; a user then simply asks the agent to check an idea in plain language, and the agent calls the tool and reports the score and top competitors. It can also be tried directly in a browser without installing anything.

The project is in maintenance mode: it remains free, open source and running, with bug reports reviewed but no new features planned.
