jcode

A terminal-based AI coding agent harness built for low RAM usage, with published benchmarks comparing its memory footprint to other coding-agent CLIs.

jcode

jcode is a terminal-based coding-agent harness, described by its author as optimized for RAM efficiency and intelligence. It is installed with a shell script on macOS and Linux or a PowerShell script on Windows 11, and updates itself either from inside its TUI with an update command or from a terminal, preserving the current session; for development builds, it compares the running binary's git commit against the release tag before updating, and refuses to update if it cannot verify the build's ancestry, to avoid a downgrade.

The project publishes memory benchmarks comparing jcode's resident memory against other coding-agent tools, including Codex CLI, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot CLI, Cursor Agent and Claude Code, at both one active session and ten concurrent sessions, reporting lower memory use than each of the compared tools in both cases.
