KnowBase AI

An open-source, self-hostable Next.js SaaS boilerplate for building custom AI chatbots trained on your own documents, URLs, and Q&A data, with citations, embeddable widgets, and built-in billing.

KnowBase AI

KnowBase AI is a production-ready Next.js application that lets a user build a custom AI chatbot trained on uploaded documents, scraped URLs, or hand-written Q&A entries. Chat responses cite the source passages they were generated from, and each knowledge base sandbox can be embedded elsewhere as an iframe widget or accessed through an API.

The stack is Next.js 14 (App Router), Prisma with PostgreSQL, NextAuth with Google OAuth, Stripe billing with a credit system, and Tailwind CSS, with semantic retrieval powered by the MuAPI AI engine and OpenAI. It is positioned as an open-source alternative to hosted products such as Chatbase, CustomGPT, Botpress, SiteGPT, and Stack AI.

A live demo deployment and a self-hosted Docker path are both supported.
