LanceDB
An embedded retrieval library for multimodal AI data that stores and indexes vectors, text, images, and other data for vector, full-text, and SQL search at scale.
LanceDB is a vector search library built on the Lance columnar file format, designed to store and search vectors together with metadata and multimodal data such as text, images, and video. It supports vector similarity search, full-text search, and SQL over the same stored data, with zero-copy access and automatic versioning of the underlying dataset.
It can run entirely locally or in a user's own cloud, or through a managed cloud and enterprise offering, and integrates with tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Apache Arrow, Pandas, Polars, and DuckDB. It exposes Python, Node.js, and Rust SDKs as well as a REST API.
It is written in Rust and released under the Apache-2.0 license.
