Local Coding Agent
A local MCP coding workspace for AI agents accessed through ChatGPT's web interface, letting an agent read files, edit code, run checks and inspect git on the user's own machine through an OpenAI Secure Tunnel, with a tray app and metrics dashboard.
Local Coding Agent turns a user's own machine into an MCP-compatible coding workspace that a browser-based ChatGPT session, or any other MCP client, can operate on through a tunnel: reading files, editing code, running checks, inspecting git state, and showing live health metrics on a local dashboard. The Community Edition is open source, distributed with cross-platform Electron tray packages for Windows and macOS and a bundled, tested MCP runtime.
The project ships setup, update and diagnostic scripts intended to be run by an AI coding agent itself, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, to clone, install, verify or troubleshoot the workspace for a user. Because it can run commands and edit files on the host machine, its documentation states plainly that it is not an operating-system sandbox and that only trusted workspaces should be connected to it.
