Local REST API with MCP
An Obsidian plugin that exposes a vault through an authenticated REST API and a built-in MCP server, so scripts, browser extensions, and AI agents can read, search, and edit notes.
Local REST API with MCP gives scripts and AI agents a direct, authenticated line into an Obsidian vault. Both its REST API and its MCP server expose the same core capabilities: full CRUD on any file including binary files, surgically patching a specific heading, block reference, or frontmatter key without touching the rest of a note, full-text or structured JsonLogic search over note metadata, following vault events such as a note being created or opened as a filtered event stream, and reading or writing whichever note is currently open.
Other plugins can register their own routes through an extension interface, adding further tools, resources, and prompts to the MCP server. All requests are served over HTTPS with a locally generated certificate and gated behind API key authentication.
It is written in TypeScript.
