mcp

A single-binary command-line tool that turns any Model Context Protocol server's tools into ordinary terminal commands, without writing wrapper code or installing a software development kit.

mcp

The mcp CLI reads a local configuration file listing MCP servers, connects to each over standard input and output or HTTP using JSON-RPC 2.0, and lets a server's tool be called directly from a shell, with output always returned as JSON so it can be piped into other tools. Servers can be added from a built-in registry, or manually by URL for an HTTP server, and the CLI supports three server types: a locally spawned standard-input-and-output process, a remote HTTP endpoint, and any existing command-line tool wrapped as an MCP server.

Authentication to an HTTP server that requires it is handled automatically: the CLI completes an OAuth 2.0 flow and saves the resulting token if the server supports it, guides the user through obtaining a manual token if not, and otherwise reads a token from configured headers.

It is written in Rust and released under the MIT license.
