MCP Adapter

The official WordPress package that exposes WordPress abilities as Model Context Protocol tools, resources and prompts, so MCP-compatible AI agents can discover and call WordPress functionality.

MCP Adapter

MCP Adapter is WordPress's official package for Model Context Protocol integration. It bridges the WordPress Abilities API to MCP, converting registered abilities into MCP tools, resources and prompts that any MCP client can call, with HTTP and STDIO transport support and an extensible architecture for custom integrations.

The adapter supports running multiple MCP servers at once, each with its own transports, abilities and handlers, plus pluggable error handling and observability and granular per-server and per-ability permission checks. Abilities are private by default; a site owner opts one in by setting a metadata flag, then reaches it through the default server's discovery, info and execution meta-tools. It is written in PHP and licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later.
