MCP Apps

MCP Apps extends the Model Context Protocol so that tools can declare an interactive user interface, such as a chart, form, design canvas, or video player, that renders inline inside a compliant chat client instead of returning only text and structured data. This repository is the official specification and SDK for the extension.

It ships four Agent Skills that let a coding agent build MCP Apps directly: one that scaffolds a new app with an interactive UI, one that converts an existing OpenAI App to MCP Apps, one that adds a UI to an existing MCP server's tools, and one that turns an existing web app into a hybrid web and MCP App. The skills install through the Claude Code plugin marketplace or manually for other Agent-Skills-compatible agents, and support for the extension varies by host client.

It is written in TypeScript.
