MCP Defender
A desktop app that proxies MCP tool call traffic between AI apps such as Cursor, Claude, VS Code and Windsurf and their MCP servers, checking each request and response against a set of signatures and asking the user before allowing anything it flags as harmful.
MCP Defender sits between AI applications and the MCP servers they talk to, automatically routing MCP tool call requests and responses through itself. It checks the intercepted traffic against a set of signatures, and when it detects something harmful it alerts the user and asks whether to allow or block that specific tool call.
It protects Cursor, Claude, Visual Studio Code and Windsurf automatically, and can also be run from source with Node. The project notes it has been acquired by Docker Inc.
