MCP Inspector

MCP Inspector is a developer tool for inspecting Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. It ships as a single package that provides three ways to inspect a server: a web UI built with Vite, React and Mantine with a Node backend; a scriptable command-line client for automation, CI and agent feedback loops; and an interactive terminal UI built with Ink. All three run through one global binary.

On a machine without an OS keychain, such as headless Linux, SSH sessions, Termux or a container with a mounted volume, secrets such as OAuth client secrets and stdio environment values are saved to a plaintext file by default unless a key is supplied to encrypt it.

The project is currently on its v2 line; a legacy v1 line remains available with security fixes only. It is written in TypeScript.
