MCP Registry

A community-driven registry service, like an app store for Model Context Protocol servers, giving MCP clients a searchable list of available MCP servers.

MCP Registry

The MCP Registry provides MCP clients with a list of MCP servers, functioning like an app store for MCP servers. As of its most recent update, the Registry API has entered an API freeze at version 0.1, intended to stay stable with no breaking changes for at least a month so integrators can implement support with confidence, while development continues on later versions; the registry launched in preview shortly before that, so breaking changes or data resets may still occur before a general-availability release.

Its Registry Working Group includes members from Stacklok, PulseMCP, TeamSpark and Ravenmail, and development discussion flows through Discord for real-time conversation, GitHub Discussions for proposing product or technical requirements, Issues for well-scoped technical work, and Pull Requests for contributions.

Running the server locally requires Docker, Go, the ko container-image builder for Go, and golangci-lint, and starts a full development environment with PostgreSQL using ephemeral, reset-on-restart storage for a clean testing state each time.
