MCP Tools Py

An MCP server that gives AI assistants such as Claude and VS Code Copilot the ability to run pylint and pytest, plus other Python quality tools, against a Python project and get LLM-friendly results.

MCP Tools Py

MCP Tools Py is a Model Context Protocol server that runs Python code-quality checks and returns results formatted as actionable prompts rather than raw tool output, scoped to Python projects only. It lets AI assistants such as Claude Desktop or VS Code with GitHub Copilot run pylint and pytest, along with formatting and refactoring operations, within a specified project directory.

It deliberately exposes only a defined set of tools rather than general-purpose bash access, scoping every operation to the given project directory for tighter security and logging every tool call, with its parameters, timing, and results, for transparency. Pylint tools accept parameters such as extra CLI arguments, target directories, and how many issue types to show in detail, and pylint configuration is read automatically from the project's pyproject.toml. Several tools, including pylint, mypy, ruff check, ruff fix, bandit, and vulture, auto-detect target directories when none are specified.
