mcptoon

A zero-dependency Python CLI that manages MCP tools and agent skills for every AI coding agent from one config, cutting the tokens spent on tool and skill discovery by keeping full descriptions on disk instead of in context.

mcptoon

mcptoon manages MCP tools and Agent Skills across every desktop or command-line AI agent from a single local configuration, connecting to a registry of more than 17,000 MCP tools and searching skills on demand rather than pre-installing anything. Instead of loading every tool's full schema and every SKILL.md into context on every turn, it hands the agent a compact name index and fetches the full schema or skill text only when a tool is actually chosen or called.

On a 255-tool sample this cuts tool-discovery context by about 99.2%, and its compact TOON-based encoding also shrinks a tool's returned results by roughly a third compared with JSON. It installs with pip, requires no dependencies beyond the Python standard library, and ships as a 297KB native CLI.
