MDN MCP server

An experimental MCP server from Mozilla that gives LLMs and coding agents access to MDN's search, documentation, and browser compatibility data.

MDN MCP server

The MDN MCP server is an experimental Model Context Protocol server, built by Mozilla, that exposes MDN's search, documentation, and browser compatibility data to language models and coding agents. Its goal is to give agents an up-to-date, accurate source of web platform documentation instead of relying on what a model learned during training, which can be outdated.

It can be added as a remote server, for example in Claude Code with a single command, or run locally after installing dependencies with npm, which also starts an MCP inspector and tests during development. Mozilla stores query data while the server remains experimental, covered by its privacy notice and acceptable-use policy, with an opt-out header available for first-party analytics. The server may be withdrawn at any time.
