Memento
A local-first memory layer for AI assistants that runs an MCP server over a local SQLite file, so tools such as Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot can share durable memory about a user, their work and past decisions.
Memento gives an AI assistant one place to keep durable, structured memory about a person, their preferences and past decisions, instead of each tool re-explaining that context from scratch or storing it in its own siloed rules file. Any MCP-capable assistant, including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cline and OpenCode, can read and write to it.
It runs as an MCP server over a local SQLite database, with no outbound network calls by default and no vendor lock-in. An interactive setup command creates the database, asks a few one-keystroke configuration questions, can seed the store from one of several starter memory packs, and can write a persona snippet into the user-scope configuration file of AI clients it detects on the machine, printing copy-paste MCP configuration snippets for every supported client.
