mikke

A single-binary local search CLI for Japanese Markdown notes, combining full-text and optional semantic search, built mainly so an AI coding agent can search a developer's own note archive.

mikke

mikke is a local search CLI for folders of Japanese Markdown notes with YAML frontmatter and wikilinks, compatible with Obsidian vaults. It is built mainly so AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI or Cursor can search a developer's own notes, though a person can run it directly too.

It provides BM25 full-text search over SQLite FTS5 using a trigram tokenizer, so it handles mixed Japanese and English text without morphological analysis, plus optional local semantic and hybrid search that degrades gracefully to BM25 alone when no embedding model is available. It needs no git repository, works on any folder with an optional configuration file, and outputs JSON Lines for scripting. It is written in Rust.
