Model Context Protocol servers

This repository holds reference implementations for the Model Context Protocol, maintained by the MCP steering group. The servers are educational examples of MCP features and SDK usage, such as Everything, a test server with prompts, resources and tools; Fetch, for web content fetching; Filesystem, for file operations with access controls; Git; Memory, a knowledge-graph based memory system; Sequential Thinking; and Time. They are not intended as production-ready solutions.

A separate MCP Registry lists published third-party servers; this repository focuses on the small number of reference servers built by the steering group. TypeScript-based servers can be run directly with npx, and Python-based servers with uvx or pip. Several previously included servers, such as GitHub, GitLab, Slack, PostgreSQL, Puppeteer and Redis, have been archived and are now maintained elsewhere or by other parties.

Official SDKs exist for C#, Go, Java, Kotlin, PHP, Python, Ruby, Rust, Swift and TypeScript.
