Nanocoder

Nanocoder is an open coding agent for the terminal, maintained by the Nano Collective, a not-for-profit community group rather than a company. It runs agentic coding sessions against a model of the user's choice, whether a local model through Ollama or a remote OpenAI-compatible API such as OpenRouter, Anthropic or Google, so the user decides which provider runs their code and where their data goes. There are no closed-source features or paid tiers gating core functionality.

It offers two terminal rendering modes: a default fullscreen mode with its own scrollback and mouse support, and an inline mode that prints into the terminal's native scrollback so the terminal's own scrollbar and search still work. It also supports skills such as custom commands, subagents, tools and event triggers, lifecycle hooks, and configurable AI providers, MCP servers and logging.
