Ollama for VS Code

The official Ollama extension for Visual Studio Code, which adds locally running or Ollama-hosted cloud models to the VS Code Chat model picker.

Ollama for VS Code

Ollama for VS Code is an official extension that connects a running Ollama server to Visual Studio Code's built-in chat feature, adding the models available in Ollama to VS Code's model picker. It discovers models from Ollama's default local address and needs Ollama installed and running, with at least one local or cloud model pulled.

Local models work without signing in, while cloud models require running a sign-in command in Ollama first. The extension adds commands to the VS Code command palette for refreshing the list of discovered models and for printing diagnostic information to help troubleshoot cases where a model is available in Ollama but not appearing in the picker. It requires a reasonably current version of VS Code and, for the best cloud-model support, a recent version of Ollama.
