Onyx

An open-source AI platform that indexes more than 50 workplace applications to give LLMs and AI agents context about a team's own knowledge, alongside chat, deep research and custom agents.

Onyx

Onyx connects to more than 50 applications, pulling in documents along with their metadata and permissions so the resulting index respects the same access controls as the source systems, and serves that context to a query faster and more cheaply than having an agent iteratively search many separate tools. Features include agentic retrieval-augmented generation over a hybrid index, a multi-step deep-research flow for longer reports, custom agents scoped to a subset of the indexed knowledge, web search through providers such as Serper, Brave and SearXNG plus a built-in crawler, a secure sandbox for code execution, generated document and graphic artifacts, and voice interaction.

It supports self-hosted and proprietary model providers, including Ollama, LiteLLM and vLLM alongside Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini, and can be deployed air-gapped with the document index, database and processing all running within a self-contained set of services. Beyond a web and desktop app, it is reachable through a Slack or Discord bot, an MCP server, and a browser extension.

It is written in Python.

    ai-rete-rag.com

A platform that pairs a Rete rule engine with retrieval-augmented generation, so deterministic rules decide an outcome and grounded retrieval explains the decision in plain language.

  • Xtriever

    github.com

A hybrid retrieval engine for retrieval-augmented generation, written in Rust to run on-device on a phone or a laptop, combining lexical BM25 search, dense embedding search, reciprocal-rank fusion and cross-encoder re-ranking with no server.

  • FileFlux

    github.com

A .NET library that turns PDF, DOCX, HWP and other documents into optimized chunks for RAG systems, through a five-stage pipeline built on high-performance Rust FFI readers.
