Open Brain

A self-hosted infrastructure layer built around one database and one AI gateway, so every AI assistant a person uses shares the same persistent memory instead of keeping separate, disconnected histories.

Open Brain

Open Brain (OB1) is a database with vector search and an open protocol, built so that every AI tool in use, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code, can plug into the same persistent memory rather than each keeping its own. It is set up as one database, one AI gateway and one chat channel, without middleware or other service chains in between.

A setup guide walks through building the full system, including the database, AI gateway and a Slack capture path, in about 45 minutes, or it can be built with the help of an AI coding tool pointed at the repository. Companion prompts help migrate existing notes, and dedicated assistants, including a Claude Skill, a ChatGPT Custom GPT and a Gemini Gem, answer setup questions.
