Open SEO MCP Skills provides a free SEO MCP server, the Ryze connector, and a matching set of open-source Claude skills for keyword research, rank tracking, site audits, backlink and competitor gap analysis, and AI visibility tracking. Rather than reselling a third-party SEO data API with a markup, as the project says many open-source SEO tools do, it pulls rankings from the user's own Google Search Console, traffic and AI referral data from their own GA4, and keyword volumes from Google Ads keyword planner data, while wiring in DataForSEO directly for competitor keywords, backlinks and SERP data with no separate key to manage or markup layer.
Ahrefs and Semrush can also be connected if the user already subscribes to them. The connector is added to Claude as an MCP server, and the skills install as a Claude Code plugin or by copying the skill files directly, after which a plain-language request such as running an SEO audit on a given site triggers the corresponding skill.
It is released under the MIT license and written mainly as shell scripting around the MCP server and skill definitions.
