OpenAccountants

An open-source, MCP-connected library of tax guides for AI agents, each reviewed and credited to a named accountant, covering over 200 jurisdictions.

OpenAccountants

OpenAccountants publishes tax guides that an AI agent can cite, each either reviewed and signed by a named, licensed accountant or written as a source-cited draft from primary legislation. A hosted MCP connector lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, and other MCP clients load the relevant guide for a jurisdiction and question, returning an answer that names the reviewing accountant.

The repository is organized into per-jurisdiction packages with a machine-readable index, and can be installed as a self-hosted package or used by uploading a jurisdiction's files directly to an AI assistant. Accountants can contribute new guides through a web form, and their names appear on a public roster.

The project states that guides are general reference, not professional advice, and may be incomplete or outdated.
