opencodex
A local proxy that lets OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Grok Build run any large language model provider, translating between Codex's API format and more than 40 built-in providers or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
opencodex is a lightweight local proxy that translates the Codex CLI's Responses API into whatever a chosen model provider speaks, covering streaming, tool calls, reasoning tokens and images in both directions. It lets tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Grok Build run Claude, Gemini, Grok, GLM, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, Ollama or any other supported model in place of their default backend.
A local web dashboard configures providers, from more than 40 built-ins to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and picks models per tool. The proxy can also manage a pool of ChatGPT accounts for Codex authentication, adding accounts, tracking their quotas, and automatically routing new sessions to the least-used healthy account while keeping an existing conversation pinned to the account it started on.
It installs as a Node.js command-line tool, with a bundled Bun runtime, or as a native desktop application with a system tray. It is written in TypeScript and released under the MIT license.
