OpenCodex

OpenCodex is a middleware layer for Codex and ChatGPT Desktop that lets a phone, tablet or another computer access and operate Codex on a target machine through a browser, over a local network or a remote LAN.

OpenCodex

OpenCodex sits between a user and Codex Desktop or ChatGPT Desktop, exposing the desktop app's interface, including its file tree, terminal and review features, to a browser on another device. It requires Codex Desktop or ChatGPT Desktop with Codex support already installed on the target machine.

It can be launched from a desktop launcher that configures the listen address, port and access password visually, or from the command line for local network or remote access with an access password. Remote access beyond the local network relies on external tools such as Tailscale, ZeroTier or a VPN; OpenCodex does not provide its own relay service, and the project recommends against exposing it directly to the public internet.

It reports token usage, sorts projects and sessions by recent activity, and can automatically choose a model and reasoning effort to save tokens.
