OpenCursor

An open-source, Cursor-like AI coding agent extension for VS Code that connects to multiple LLM providers, including local models, for chat-based code editing.

OpenCursor

OpenCursor brings conversation, code exploration, file edits, terminal commands, and change review into the VS Code editor. A user connects a supported account, supplies their own API keys, or runs a local model through Ollama or llama.cpp, then chooses a model and permission level per task and follows the agent's progress as collapsible activity, tool calls, and task lists.

Its workspace-aware chat lets a user mention files, folders, selections, documentation, and terminal or Git output, keep separate tabbed conversations with saved drafts, and write Markdown with pasted images and highlighted code directly in the composer, while its tools cover reading and editing files, searching code, running terminal commands, inspecting language symbols, and verifying browser behavior. Changed files and individual diff hunks can be reviewed and kept or undone from the editor.

It requires VS Code 1.96 or newer, is written in TypeScript, and is distributed under the MIT license.
