OpenDocuments

A self-hosted retrieval-augmented search platform that indexes GitHub, Notion, Google Drive, Confluence, and other sources into one AI-searchable knowledge base with cited answers.

OpenDocuments

OpenDocuments is a self-hosted retrieval-augmented generation platform that connects to sources such as GitHub, Notion, Google Drive, Confluence, S3, Swagger and OpenAPI specs, local files, and web pages, indexes them with hybrid vector and keyword search, and answers natural-language questions with cited sources. It stores metadata in SQLite and vectors in LanceDB, then retrieves, reranks, and generates grounded answers that can include confidence scores and links back to the original documents.

It can run with Ollama so sensitive documents stay on a team's own infrastructure, and exposes a command-line tool, a web UI, an HTTP API, a TypeScript SDK, a plugin system, and an embeddable widget. It also serves as a knowledge base for AI coding assistants through MCP, including Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf.

It installs from npm and is written in TypeScript.
