OpenYak

OpenYak is a local desktop GUI for Codex and Claude Code that keeps the conversation, project files and a shared browser in one workspace instead of a terminal.

OpenYak

OpenYak is a desktop application that gives Codex and Claude Code a graphical workspace. Projects, tasks and transcripts are stored locally, and a user can switch between the Codex and Claude Code providers within one task while OpenYak replays the conversation context rather than a provider's private internal state.

It drives the agents through their native runtimes, the Codex App Server and the Claude Agent SDK, with the Agent Client Protocol available as an explicit compatibility option. Files referenced in a response open as persistent tabs for Markdown, HTML, PDF, DOCX and syntax-highlighted code, and a shared browser lets the user watch the agent work, take control of the same page, and hand control back.

It runs as a native desktop app with light and dark appearance, resizable panels, a macOS Dock icon and a menu-bar shortcut. The current v2 release on main is alpha; the earlier v1 is preserved on a separate branch.
