pi-tool-display

An extension for the Pi coding agent that renders tool calls more compactly, with richer diff views for file edits and adjustable presets, to keep the terminal UI readable during long sessions.

pi-tool-display

pi-tool-display changes how the Pi coding agent displays tool calls in its terminal UI. Built-in tools such as read, grep, find, ls, bash, edit and write get compact rendering by default, MCP tool calls get hidden, summary or preview display modes, and edit or write operations get adaptive split or unified diffs with syntax highlighting and narrow-pane clamping, including previews of pending edits while a tool call is still streaming.

It offers three presets, opencode, balanced and verbose, plus collapsed diff hints that shorten automatically on narrow terminals, thinking-label rendering during streaming, and an optional native user message input box. Per-tool ownership toggles let it coexist with other renderer extensions, and it installs as a local extension folder, an npm package, or directly from its Git repository.
