pplx

An unofficial command-line client for the Perplexity API, supporting interactive chat, one-off web-search queries, shell completion, and MCP integration for use from other AI tools.

pplx

pplx is an unofficial CLI written in Go for querying and chatting with the Perplexity API. It supports interactive chat sessions, one-off web-search queries with selectable search modes (web or academic), and dynamic filtering by recency, context size, reasoning effort, image format, and search domain.

It can be installed from prebuilt release binaries or with Homebrew, and building from source requires Go 1.24 or later. It provides shell completion for Bash, Zsh, Fish, and PowerShell, installable automatically with an auto-detecting installer command or configured manually per shell, covering completion for commands, flags, model names such as sonar and sonar-pro, and other dynamic values. It also includes MCP integration so other MCP-compatible tools can use it as a Perplexity connector.
