RepoWiki

RepoWiki is an open-source alternative to DeepWiki that generates a structured wiki for any local codebase from the terminal or a browser, installed with a single pip install and backed by SQLite rather than Docker or a hosted service.

RepoWiki

RepoWiki generates a wiki for any codebase, run locally with no SaaS account or Docker Compose stack required, unlike the closed DeepWiki or the Docker-and-PostgreSQL-based deepwiki-open. A scan produces a project overview, per-module documentation, an auto-detected architecture with Mermaid diagrams, and a PageRank-ranked reading path meant to guide a reader from the most central concepts outward; a symbol index and per-module knowledge cards collect key symbols and give a fast way to pick a starting point.

Backtick-quoted symbols and file paths that match another wiki page automatically become links to it, both in the Markdown export and as in-page navigation in HTML, and wikis can also be exported as JSON. Incremental re-scans track which inputs produced each page in a state file, so only pages whose source changed are regenerated, and analysis results are cached in a content-keyed SQLite database so unchanged pages skip the LLM call. RepoWiki respects .gitignore and a project's own .repowikiignore, skips common local secret files by default, and offers a terminal chat mode for asking questions about a scanned repository.
