Roam

A local CLI and MCP server that gives coding agents a reusable codebase index: connections between files and functions, pattern findings with alternatives, and checks they can run as they work, without an account or API key.

Roam

Roam builds a local index of a codebase using SQLite, covering 28 languages, and exposes 287 commands and 246 MCP tools (17 in the default core preset) so an agent can query dependencies, inspect a detected pattern with a proposed alternative, or run a scoped check instead of building each analysis from scratch.

Checks use local compute rather than model calls or a paid API, and the index is refreshed with roam index as code changes. It is meant to support work before a defect or patch exists: tracing a dependency, comparing an approach, or working out which checks a change will need.

It installs with pip install "roam-code[mcp]" (or pipx or uv tool) and requires Python 3.10 or later and a Git repository; agents connect through MCP or by calling the CLI directly.
