Roku Dev Studio

Roku Dev Studio is a cross-platform desktop application for Roku channel developers that wraps remote control, app sideloading, a debug console, BrightScript debugging, network inspection and an MCP server for AI coding agents into one GUI and one CLI.

Roku Dev Studio

Rather than replacing Roku's own protocols, the app wraps the External Control Protocol, RALE, telnet and sca-cmd behind a single interface: a full remote control and floating mini-remote, a sideload relay that installs, launches and captures console output across every targeted device from one push, a structured debug console with search and saved logs, a standalone BrightScript debugger with breakpoints and a call stack, and an App Connector that extends RALE so a developer's own channel code can be called and exchange data during automation.

A built-in local man-in-the-middle proxy captures network traffic without a separately configured tool, and static analysis results from sca-cmd are shown with links straight to Roku's certification documentation. Both local-network and internet-bridged devices are supported.

It is an Electron desktop application written in TypeScript, ships an rds CLI, and is released under the MIT license.
