SearXNG MCP Server
An MCP server that connects Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients to a SearXNG instance, giving them privacy-respecting web search, page reading, and query-suggestion tools.
mcp-searxng is an MCP server that integrates the SearXNG search API, giving AI assistants web search capability against an operator-controlled or trusted SearXNG instance rather than a hosted search product; it connects a client to an existing SearXNG deployment with JSON search enabled and does not install SearXNG itself.
Its tools support search with pagination, filters, direct answers, and full or compact text or JSON output; reading HTML pages, structured text, and bounded PDF text, including inspecting specific headings or sections; discovering an instance's capabilities and query suggestions; and optional replica failover or fan-out, HTML fallback, caching, proxies, and browser solvers. It runs over local STDIO or Streamable HTTP, launched by a client through npx or Docker, or as an independently running HTTP service with static bearer or OAuth protection.
It is written in TypeScript, MIT licensed, and listed in the GitHub MCP Registry.
