skeg
A multi-tenant vector database and key-value store in one process that speaks the Redis protocol, keeping full-precision vectors on SSD with only a small quantized working set in RAM.
skeg combines a vector database and a key-value store in a single process that speaks the Redis wire protocol, so any Redis client can use its key-value commands, alongside dedicated commands for vector operations that take raw little-endian float32 vectors.
Its design keeps full vectors on SSD and only a quantized proxy in RAM: a quantized walk over the graph produces a shortlist that is then re-ranked from disk at full precision, so recall stays high while memory tracks the working set rather than the whole corpus. Each tenant gets its own index, so a query has no physical path to another tenant's data rather than relying on an application-level filter, and payload filters use a grammar of ranges, sets and boolean composition with a planner that scales with the shortlist rather than the number of matches. It offers six precision tiers from full float32 down to 1-bit, chosen per index.
It is written in Rust under the Apache-2.0 license and distributed as a Docker image.
