SocratiCode
An open-source codebase context engine that gives AI coding assistants automated, private, zero-configuration knowledge of an entire codebase through hybrid semantic search and dependency graphs.
SocratiCode is an open-source context engine that gives AI coding assistants deep semantic understanding of a codebase and its surrounding infrastructure. It combines hybrid search, cross-project search, polyglot code dependency graphs, symbol-level impact analysis and call-flow tracing, an interactive HTML graph explorer, and searchable context artifacts such as database schemas, API specifications and infrastructure configuration.
It is designed for zero configuration: it runs through Docker with no API keys required and no data leaving the machine, and it can be added to any MCP host that supports local stdio servers, or used through a supported plugin or extension. It has been tested on enterprise-scale repositories of tens of millions of lines of code, with batched, resumable indexing checkpoints that survive crashes and restarts, a file watcher that keeps the index current across sessions, and support for multiple branches, repositories and simultaneously working agents sharing one index.
It is written in TypeScript and released under the AGPL-3.0 license, with a hosted cloud version in private beta.
