SpecStory

A set of local-first CLI and IDE extensions that capture every AI coding conversation into a searchable history, with an optional cloud sync and a command that mines saved sessions into reusable agent skills.

SpecStory

SpecStory captures, indexes, and makes searchable every interaction a developer has with AI coding assistants across projects and tools, aiming to keep a solution, snippet, or architectural decision from being lost after the conversation ends. IDE extensions and a CLI save every AI interaction locally to a .specstory/history/ folder in the project, and everything stays on the local machine unless the user opts into syncing sessions to SpecStory Cloud.

From there, a session can be searched locally or, with Cloud, across every project and team member; resumed between different agents, computers, or team members; shared by exporting a specific solution; and processed with a /lore command that mines history into reusable, evidence-backed agent skills.

It integrates with tools including Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Codex CLI, with the CLI installed through Homebrew and IDE extensions installed from each editor's extension marketplace.
