Spectrum

A local-first CLI that packs a codebase into a compact, lossless, searchable archive that can be queried and restored byte-for-byte, for agent memory and local RAG.

Spectrum

Spectrum turns a codebase into a compact, lossless, searchable .specpack file that can be queried and restored byte-for-byte. Running spectrum load points it at a repository, packs it into a .specpack, and starts a local HTTP API so an agent, app or retrieval workflow can search and hydrate exact source without a separate search index.

Instead of keeping raw chunks, compressed archives and a separate search index as different sources of truth, Spectrum stores source material as one deterministic representation that can be searched, retrieved, decoded and verified back to the original bytes. The project positions this for AI agent memory, codebase retrieval, local RAG systems, compact searchable archives, and exact reconstruction of source context, and includes a benchmark comparing it against TF-IDF, raw BM25, dense-vector retrieval and FAISS Flat.

It ships as an npm-installed CLI, currently in developer preview.
