Squad

Squad gives a project a human-directed team of AI specialists through GitHub Copilot: frontend, backend, tester and lead roles that live in the repository as files, persist across sessions, learn the codebase, share decisions, and help move faster without removing human oversight. It is explicitly a productivity tool for humans, not a replacement for engineers, reviewers or decision-makers, and each team member runs in its own context, reading only its own knowledge and writing back what it learned so the work stays inspectable.

It installs through npm, Homebrew or WinGet, or as a standalone archive that vendors its own Node.js, and a project is initialized with a single command, with a preset available that starts with a fully configured team of members, charters and routing already in place.

It is written in TypeScript, is currently alpha software with a documented changelog, and is released under the MIT license.
