Supabase

An open-source Firebase alternative that gives every project a dedicated Postgres database along with authentication, auto-generated REST and GraphQL APIs, realtime subscriptions, edge functions, and file storage.

Supabase

Supabase is an open-source backend platform built around a hosted Postgres database. It combines authentication and authorization, auto-generated REST and GraphQL APIs, realtime subscriptions over websockets, serverless edge functions, file storage, and a toolkit for AI embeddings and vector search, exposed through a dashboard.

Each part is a separate open-source project: Postgres for storage, an Elixir Realtime server for streaming database changes, PostgREST for turning the database into a REST API, GoTrue for authentication, a Storage API backed by S3-compatible storage with Postgres-managed permissions, and pg_graphql for GraphQL.

Supabase can be used as a hosted service or self-hosted and run locally, and is written mainly in TypeScript under the Apache-2.0 license.
