Tabby-MCP
An MCP server plugin for the Tabby terminal that gives an AI assistant 36 tools to run commands, manage tabs, open SSH profiles and transfer files over SFTP, gated by a confirmation dialog.
Tabby-MCP bridges an MCP-compatible AI client to a running Tabby terminal, exposing tools to execute commands and capture their output under stable session ids, send interactive input to programs such as vim or top, read the terminal buffer, and abort or monitor a running command. Further tools create, close, duplicate, split and reorder tabs, list and open SSH and other terminal profiles, and list, read, write, rename or delete files over SFTP where the tabby-ssh plugin is installed.
A pair-programming safety mode gates command execution, raw input and sensitive SFTP operations behind a non-blocking approval dialog that automatically rejects a request left unanswered for two minutes, without ever displaying authentication response values in the confirmation. The server listens only on the loopback address, validates the Origin header on both of its MCP transports, and installs from Tabby's built-in plugin manager or a standalone install script with no Node.js required.
