Tau - Your Adaptive Coding Agent

A terminal coding agent with native adapters for 28 model providers, so it talks to each provider's API directly with no proxy layer in between.

Tau - Your Adaptive Coding Agent

Tau is a coding harness installed with a single npx command; after installing, tau launches the agent and /login picks a provider. It ships prebuilt integrations for common tasks so setup does not require separately hunting for tools and plugins, and it can run with --dangerously-skip-permissions to skip permission prompts.

Each of its 28 supported providers is reached through its own native adapter rather than a translation proxy, with full streaming, rate-limit handling and automatic tool-schema sanitization per provider. Its full agent loop includes tools, skills, subagents, MCP servers, LSP and hooks that work the same way across providers, and it uses ripgrep with signal fetch and native indexing for search, saving large outputs so the agent can retrieve them later without re-searching. A /mode cheap setting switches to a compact, cache-stable core with bounded tool output.
