the Veil

An open-source desktop app that runs a team of specialist AI coding agents on your machine, carrying project memory between sessions, using a built-in model, Ollama or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

the Veil

the Veil (nl-veil) is a desktop application for building software with AI: a task is handed to specialist agents that share the work, and the project's memory carries into the next session so later conversations can recall what was tried and what test command was used. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and works with a built-in model, Ollama, or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so local inference needs no account or API key.

Local coding tools require Python on PATH, and some checks also use Node. The app shows visible planning and preparation updates while a task runs, groups settings into general, models, connection, data and update sections, and offers editable starter prompts for new chats. It checks GitHub at startup for update notifications. MIT licensed.
